Makover Projects while my RL Avatar is on vacation

Hutch AFTER the makeover
Originally uploaded by Shabby Chics
So I had this horrid hutch, which I hated. I could hardly wait to throw it away. With my vacation time, I decided to give a few projects a try. I've never really done stuff like this, but honestly, my avatars creativity recently has been inspiring (see below - she's been creating up a storm).

So I purchased some wood embellishments at the craft store, sanded the gloss off, painted with a nice ivory, sanded again, and painted over it with a thinner darker paint. After painting small sections, I wiped the darker paint off with a damp cloth - and voila - its a great looking piece for my depression glass.

Shabby Chic Chandelier BEFORE and AFTER

In real life I work full time, and am back at school again, plus I have a family. There isn't much time for creativity (well the second life creativity I can work on slowly and without much mess). But I took two weeks off this summer, just to be with my children, and do some projects.

My SL avatar is so creative - I thought - let me bring some of that into my real world. I painted/distressed a hutch, dresser, chandelier, and created some french linen (my test). And I will show you the result of all of those projects. I have step by step guide - and if there is enough interest - I will post them.

Shabby Chic Trapper Bundle - Includes Trapper Cabin and Trapper Furnishings.

This item is a plop down log cabin with everything all linked. NO worries about rezzing and moving - just plop it down. There are furs, oars, snowshoes, wagon wheel, vintage tin and a bench on the outside of the cabin.

The bench has three sitting poses/ animations - one of the animations gives you a pip to smoke while your sitting. Two standing poses/animations are at the front of the house - one of the animations gives you cigarette - and your avatar will begin smoke that cigarette when you sit (you must wear the cigarette it gives you).

Another sit animation is on the ground in front of the window. If you touch the knife on the front porch, it will give you a knife to throw. All you need to do is put your avatar into mouselook and click to begin throwing knives.

On the inside you have a cleaning animation. All you need do is sit on the poseball to receive a scrub brush and your avatar will start scrubbing the floor.

in the Kitchen there is a sink for clean up - just sit on the wash basin and your avatar will begin to wash its hands.

A large log outside needs to be cut up - just sit on the log to receive a saw. All you need to do is wear the saw.

These items are made to fit perfectly with the trappers cabin.

A chicken coop, so they can have fresh eggs. One chicken inside the coop and the other chicken is copy/mod so if you want to put a script inside it, or have a bunch of chickens - you can do that.

A bed area that has a laying animation, and two poseballs for a couple to stomach sleep. Under the bed is a rifle and chamber pot. At the end of the bed there is a chest which opens and closes with a touch, and a bunch of money inside

Bedside table that has a lamp with a tiny light that flickers, books, and there is a bookshelf above, and tapper accessories for the wall.

The kitchen includes vintage grain sacks, crates, basket of veggies, basket of eggs, drying herbs, herb organizer, vintage cans with and without labels, and canning jars.

Fresh bread sitting atop the counter with raw bread - just 'sit' on the bread to kneed the bread. A wagon decorates the outside with all sorts of utensils for gardening.

Touch the fishing basket and receive a rustic fishing rod.

A whittling stool for in front of the fire. Sit on the stool to receive a piece of wood and whittling knife - wear those and watch the wood chips fly as your avatar whittles. Let your avatar relax in front of the fire while working with his/her hands.

Enjoy the bear skin rug, old vitage map, chest for firewood with axe on top.

TONS of little details - chock full of interactivity!

If you don't want to see the poseballs for meat cutting - all poseballs are scripted to listen to channel 9. Just type /9 show in your chat line to show the poseballs or type /9 hide in your chat line to hide the poseballs.

Very natural animations. You can visit this in world at the main Shabby Chic store in Gemella.

This set was created as a stand alone set - or you can add on to the 'Trapper Collection'. The trapper collection is a Summer 2010 collection from Shabby Chic to celebrate the Mountain Men and Trappers of years gone by.

See the rustic cabin and all the different additions to the collection. You can start and build the collection by purchasing smaller stations, you can purchase item by item, or you can make bulk purchases.

LOTS of interaction in all the pieces.

Do you know how to take great photos? Does your avatar make a great model? These photos will be used on the internet? I will be using these photos on different websites.

If you would like to be one of the models -I am paying 50L per photo - of each photo that I use. I am hoping to get 2-3 photos of each dress (from different angles) and I have over 100 dresses.

---------------------
Payment
---------------------

I will not know which photos I will be using until after I receive them all. I will begin in early July choosing photos and by mid/late July will be complete. All avatars whose photos are used will be paid 50L per photo. I will pay directly into your SL account, and send you a small note.

---------------------
What I want:
---------------------
* I prefer all dresses be submitted by July 1st - I will accept late photos, but I am more likely to use things if I receive them early.

* prefer color photographs

* save photos to your hard drive (not to inventory) - this is free

* photos from any angle - that look nice (choose your location well). I want to be able to see the dress - so so make sure the dress looks good from the angle you are using.

* Child avatars photos encouraged - if you are wearing Shabby Chic and resizing it to your avatar using the resizer those would be great as well.

* you must be wearing a Shabby Chic outfit

* no text or huds in the photo

* feel free to make the outfit versatile (jacket on, jacket off) - feel free to send more than a few photos of the same outfit - I might use them all.

* set the size of your photo to make sure that the photo is NO LESS than 512 x 512 (the bigger the better)'

* send all photos to my email: . Saving photos directly to your hard drive and emailing to me allows you to take the photos for free. It does not cost money to save snapshots to your hard drive.

* include your name, and the name of the dress in the subject line of the email. If you have photos of several different dresses - please create seperate emails (so I can organize)

---------------------
Send the photos to me
---------------------

SUBJECT LINE: Jordanna Hamaski, Shabby Chic Ruby Opera (example)
SUBJECT LINE: , (example)

Please feel free to take as many shots as you like of as many gowns as you like. Feel free to take group shots with other ladies - snapshots of you working or in role play wearing the dresses - get creative - this is going to be lots of fun.

Group shots will be paid by the photo - to the person who submits the photo.

I will have a couple photos up at the front of the store in gemella so you can see the type of photo I am looking for.

Thank you so much
